WAESOL invites you to nominate candidates to serve on the WAESOL Board starting January 1, 2011. Below are the vacancies:
- Second Vice-President – a four-year commitment. Once a person becomes 2nd Vice-President for 2010, he/she will continue to serve as 1st Vice President for 2011, President for 2012, and past-President for 2013.
- Member-at-large – a two-year commitment. (See below for description.)
All WAESOL Board members are volunteers who serve the WAESOL community throughout the state of Washington. Below are the various responsibilities. The WAESOL Constitution and By-laws also lists different responsibilities of the board members. Members at Large There are eight members-at-large at a time serving on the board with at least one member-at-large representing the area of the state outside of the Puget Sound region. Four new ones are elected each year so that the terms overlap, with experienced members-at-large and new members-at-large being on the board each year. Members-at-large serve 2-year terms with terms running from January through December. They attend the four board meetings per year (usually Sept, Dec., Feb, and April), and they must serve on one standing committee (Nominating Committee, Publications Committee, WAESOL World Quarterly Committee, WAESOL Community Forum Committee, Professional Development Committee, Board Development Committee, or Socio-Political Concerns Committee). All board members are involved in the WAESOL Conference Committee before, during, and after the conference to help plan, carry out, and do necessary follow-up on the annual conference. Please consider serving as a board member by contacting WAESOL President Amal Mahmoud. WAESOL Board meetings are held four times a year and are open to any WAESOL member. WAESOL will reimburse all or most of a board member's travel expenses. Dates for 2010 meetings
