WAESOL Grants and Awards (Closed)

WAESOL offers the following grants and awards to be presented at the 2012 WAESOL Conference during lunch. See conference schedule HERE.

Guidelines for all grants and awards
  • Application deadline has been extended to September 22, 2012. (Closed)
  • No WAESOL Board member nor family member may apply.
  • You may only apply for one grant.
  • You may only nominate one individual for the Excellence in Teaching Award.
  • Recipients will be notified a week prior to the conference.
  • The WAESOL Board reserves the right to give grants and awards based on qualified applicants and on available funds.
  • In 2013, the winners of the 2012 WAESOL Grants and Awards are not eligible.

WAESOL Professional Development Grant

This grant is for $750 and is awarded to one WAESOL member. Its purpose is to assist WAESOL members with professional development. The recipient can use this grant to attend a conference, workshop or class related to the ESOL field. The recipient of this grant will be asked to write a report of the event attended to be published in the
WAESOL World Quarterly and/or on the WAESOL web site.

Guidelines

  • Applicant must be member in good standing of WAESOL at the time the application is made. (If you attended last year's Tri-TESOL Conference, you are a member until October 19, 2012.)
  • The grant recipient must be in attendance at the 2012 WAESOL Conference.
Application Procedure

  • Include a detailed essay (maximum 500 words) of why you are applying for this grant and how it would benefit your teaching.


WAESOL Project Funding Grant


This grant is awarded to two individuals ($375 each). The purpose of this grant is to encourage and benefit classroom/community projects that directly impact English language learning in Washington state. The recipient of this grant will be asked to write a report of the project to be published in the
WAESOL World Quarterly and/or on the WAESOL web site.

Guidelines
  • Applicant must be member in good standing of WAESOL at the time the application is made. (If you attended last year's Tri-TESOL Conference, you are a member until October 19, 2012.)
  • The grant recipient must be in attendance at the 2012 WAESOL Conference.
  • Only one application per individual.

WAESOL Excellence in Teaching Award (in honor of
Sally Wellman)

This award is for $500 and is given to an ESOL teacher who has exhibited outstanding dedication in the classroom. It is the intent of WAESOL that this award will honor the recipient and inspire continued dedication to others in the profession. Any current WAESOL member may nominate a deserving individual. The nominee themselves need not be a WAESOL member, but should work/reside in Washington state. The nominating essay will be published in the
WAESOL World Quarterly and/or on the WAESOL web site.

  • The person making the nomination must be a WAESOL member in good standing at the time the application is made. (If you attended last year's Tri-TESOL Conference, you are a member until October 19, 2012.)
  • You may nominate only one person.
  • Only one application per individual is allowed.
