Newsletter FAQ

  • When is the deadline for the next WAESOL Newsletter?
Current deadline:
The deadline for submitting articles for the next (fall) issue of WAESOL Newsletter is 12/01/07.
  • What should I write about?  You may want to write about one of the following topics:
-Teaching methodology
-Teaching tips, something that works for you
-Teaching abroad (write about your experience)
-Assessment
-Book review
-Grants
-Conferences or other professional events
-Promote your campus (thank you letters, etc.)
-K-12 Issues or Higher Ed issues
-Humor (e.g. My most humiliating teaching story, funny cartoons, artwork, etc)
-Helpful web sites (share your "good links")
-Questions to the editor
- Anything that you feel is important to share with the WAESOL readers
  • Is there any specific format I should use?
Yes. Please submit all articles in a word processing document format. No matter how inspired you feel about using a fancy format, you should follow these requirements:
 
         Font: Times New Roman
         Font Style: Regular
         Size:12
         Color: Black
         Layout: Normal
         Spacing: Single
  • How long should my article be?
Articles can be any length up to 1500 words.
  • Where and how do I send my material?

If you are interested in submitting a piece for the newsletter, please contact Diana Casey or Shawna Shapiro by email. 

 
In order to be considered for publishing in our upcoming edition, your article must be received by the official deadline.
  • Can I send black and white, as well as color pictures?
Yes. The pictures should indicate who is in it (name, title, etc. - group pictures do not require a written permission from all the parties, but you will need this permission from an individual party). Please contact the editor with specific questions.
 
Please send your picture(s) as a .pdf file.
  • How do I know that my article was accepted for publishing?
You will receive a confirmation from the newsletter editor upon receiving your article. WAESOL will review all articles for submission. In most cases you will be notified right away whether or not you material was accepted.
  • Do I have to include my work title?
No. However, the readers prefer to know who wrote the article. Your article will be published under the name that you provide.
  • Will my article be edited?
We do reserve the right to edit your article to ensure the quality of our publishing. In some cases the material will be sent back to the author. In that case we will ask you to rewrite your work.
  • Will I also receive an electronic copy of the newsletter?
Yes, you will be receiving both an electronic and hard copy of the newsletter.
  • How often can I submit my articles?
You may submit articles as often as you wish.
